Ashtoret 1 [Ishtar]
The installation in Rishon LeZion is designed as a seat corner. The occupant finds himself surrounded by three ample breasts typically attributed to the Canaanite fertility goddess who was also a major mother figure. Fertility is a popular motif in local sculpture and characterizes ancient ceremonial folk rituals for the entire Mediterranean Basin region.
The three breasts form the contours of the Eastern landscape in miniature.
